I would have Selva come out and look at the floor so he can determine what is causing the problem ,and guide you through the process .

Not to take anything away from Gary who is highly qualified but i think it is best to have a onsite inspection .

Thank both of you for your vote of confidence.
From the posts, I can see several possibilities but, to give an unsupported answer without an examination is not wise causing more problems because without data, nothing can be determined.

And, nothing against my colleagues but in NC all are former carpet cleaners with no actual hands on flooring experience. For example, one recently called to tell me, all excited, he just figured out, after attending a class I arranged for inspectors at NCSU last April, that basements might be a source for moisture.

Right now, what I do know, from reading the posts, you need someone doing more than relaying guesses on an internet forum, which is a great tool for educating and sharing but it is not an on-site examination.

If you think you need a professional examination, I recommend myself or Dr. Craig DeWitt. Frankly, it sounds like you do need help but I will not makes free guesses that can or may cause more trouble.

To find either one of us, simple type in Tucks Floor Inspection Service, if you decide you want Craig, I will email him or give you his number. We don't "work against" each other although we are competitors.

To the other guys, the answer may be in the posts but, more details not usually shared on line are in play.

Again, a great site for sharing and education, this is one of only a few professional sites, you guys were lucky you did not stumble across "The FloorPro" where few are professional or knowledgeable.

thanks Nick

I agree with Selva and the others that suggest an on site inspection. This is the only way accurate, professional, non biased measurements can be obtained. Selva would be an excellent choice to do this. No one has more experience than he in your area.

Maybe and maybe not but one thing Ive learned from living in different locations is that words have different meanings to different people and a joke can be taken many ways. I will err on the side of caution.
