My niche, if you want to call it a niche, is installing square edge 4 sides factory finished solid wood floors.... 3/4" or 5/16". I can tell the difference but the average person is somewhat shocked to discover what they are looking at is actually a prefinished product.

Apparently Gary does not read that other site. ;)

I wonder why more large format parquet isin't used. I like the look more than straight wood and there seem to be more and more options avaliable these days.

We use a lot of the "Kentucky" wood floor patterns here in the more upscale projects, usually just as a part of a larger install, maybe in library, home office, etc. Herringbone (my favorite) is also very popular.

Today I got the "go ahead" on a nice job :D

The folks said " We want you to do the job because we trust you. Our dog likes you, so we know we can trust you. Everyone else that came over, he wanted to attack ! "

Is that a trip ? Maybe that's my niche market  Sometimes you gotta love this business.

Maybe you guys should think about carrying some kibble or snausages in your back pocket

Had a builder call me and ask how much he owed me. lol I told him then he said I was high bidder on that job but that was OK cus he liked me and my attitude. Scary huh.

Then I told him he should not get other quotes for future jobs and just trust me.

I work for a builder who years ago told me I wasn't charging enough. So I told him fine, I'll charge you more. Next job, he asked me to give him a break on the price. :?
