I am renovating a house built in 1965.
The home was built with 1/2" subfloor and had 3/8" Particle Board over top. If I understand correctly to install 3/4" hardwood floors over this I have to remove the 3/8" particle board and then install a new layer of 5/8" plywood over the existing 1/2" ply wood. (or can I get away with another layer of 1/2" or 3/8" plywood over the existing 1/2" plywood?)

The house also has an addition built onto it with a crawlspace. I got in there last night and it is very dry. I want to put 3/4" hardwood floor in this room as well....

Does anyone see any problems or add any advice for me?

Thanks in advance.

Both NOFMA and the NWFA state an additional layer of 1/2" CDX plywood will be sufficient. If done properly, you may get by with 3/8" if you run the flooring at 90 degrees or diagonall to the floor joists
