I wasn't able to leave atleast a 2 inch gap in every place I needed to because there were so many walls and vents I needed to go to with my floating floor. The instructions say I needed atleast 2 inches for my final row, but it wasn't possible, I ended up with 3/4 of an inch gap between my last row and the wall. My flooring does not need glue, but if I were to glue the final 3/4 inch piece on would that be alright? The majority of it will be under trim, except for the doorway piece, but that would go under the t-molding.

Or do I have to start over, and try and find a way to do it leaving the 2 inch gap?

Thanks

A 2" gap? This is a new one on me. I have not seen any manufacturer recommended a 2" gap for any flooring except large gymnasium installs. I'd speculate you are OK.

You can accomplish this by ripping the first row in half. i.e you boards are 4 inches wide you rip the fist row to 2 inch and the last row will be 2 3/4 of an inch since you said you have 3/4 inch gap. Hope this makes sense.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood. You are not asking to leave a 2" gap but rather, is it ok to use a skinny little piece for the last board, right? Sometimes, it's difficult to plan these things out on a large install where there are many walls and verticle obstructions. It is better not to use a skinny narrow piece for the last row but since the flor is already laid and now you are faced with this choice, I would try to just glue in that last little piece to the rest of the floor and hope for the best.

Kryolla that wouldn't work because then the cuts around the vents and walls I had to cut around would be 2 inches shorter.

Gary, yes I had to leave atleast 2 inches but it just wasn't possible. I'll try and see how a small piece would hold in there. The trim will cover up most of it, so hopefully i'll be alright.

Thanks for the help.
