I am looking to install hardwood floors in the living room, hallway, kitchen and foyer of a condo. I have ripped up the carpet in the living room and hallway. I am having trouble though removing the ceramic tile in the kitchen and foyer. Any suggestions on how to speed up the process? All I have been using is a scraper with a long handle which has not been very productive. Somebody suggested a sledgehammer but I am afraid that I will crack the concrete floor.
Also, does anybody know how to address height differences at a door in the entryway that, for lack of a better description, has what looks like a metal strip on the door at the bottom?

Metal strip? You'll have to give us a better description.
