I'm planning to install a floating BR111 Triangulo Engineered floor in my house which was built in 1993. BR111 web site says that I should prime or seal the floor. Here's my questions:

Aren't concrete slabs typically sealed after they are poored?

Bostik's video says poor a small amount of water on the slab to see if it is sealed. If the water puddles then it is sealed. Is this a good test?

Is it necessary to seal the slab if you are using a 2 in 1 pad? I thought it provided enough of a vapor barrier.

What do you recommend for a thin set and do I need to seal the thin set if the slab is already sealed?

You don't want any sealer on the floor before you flatten the substrate to an 1/8 of an inch, in 6 feet, with polymer fortified portland cement patching compound.

If your doing a floating installation, there is no need for any kind of sealers, You do need a moisture barrier, and the 2-n-1 cushion provides that to a limit.

Do you mean it provides that to a certain extent and still needs additional barrier or provides to the limit needed for floating floors?
