I have had a mahogany wood floor placed with white concrete (polished) placed between the pieces of wood. The boards are about 10" in width and the concrete is about 2 inches in between the boards. The floor was sealed and the boards were sealed before being placed. The boards were very dry and not green. The problem I am having is that the concrete is starting to crack and I do not know how, or if, I can prevent this. Does anyone know anything about this?

It might be an issue with the concrete. If there was no rebar in the concrete this could contribute. Or how wet the concrete was for the pour. There are many factors that would affect the performance of the concrete. I would be surprised if the wood being installed directly next to the concrete was the cause but might be a factor.

I'm not seeing how this could work anyway. Both wood and concrete expand and contract, albeit at different rates. Nor will they ever form a bond with one another.

Seems to me like there should have been some allowances made for movement, like a grout caulk or something that flexes.
