Hi all,

I'm a new new DIY here try to install the hardwood floor at home. Need some suggestions from you guys...

I purchased 3/4" Oak solid hardwood floor, and a stapler

stapler: http://cgi.ebay.com/HARDWOOD-FLOOR-FLOO ... dZViewItem

Questions are:

1. what kind of air compressor shall I get? Do I need to buy any accessories for the compressor?

2. What kind of nail, what brand shall I buy?

I know, these may be silly questions, but, I'm new new DIYer :)

Thanks for any help!!

For $115 you stole that gun. Looks like a SpotNails knock off.

1.) Any pancake compressor should shoot it. Make sure it has a regulator. A water trap is a plus. You need to play with the psi, regulation, to get it to shoot at the right depth.

2.) Looks like the SpotNails, Bostich, SureGrip, or Senco, 15.5 crown staples, 1½ or 2" long.

1. yeah that will work....

I purchased a Campbell Hausfeld 2 gallon wall mountable compressor (135psi) from Costco for $69.00 (Great Compressor). Truth is that most ANY compressor will work. Schucks Auto parts has some cheap compressors and they also sell a 15 gauge finish nailer that I use for the first 2 rows (set of 15/18/fine nailer $119.00).

2. As far as your Ebay purchase goes....

I have a (chinese) knock off just like that Stapler and it worked great. Both are STAPLERS and you will need to buy Bostich Flooring Staples (2") from Lowes/Home Depot. I found the staples that came with my stapler didn't work very well. Bostich staples come in a box of 7200 staples for around $50.00.

Good Luck!!

I have that compressor and I like it. It has given me no problems at all and I have used it on several major projects. If I had to point out ANY issues with it here's what I'd say:

- Rubber feet still allow the compressor to slide across the floor sometimes (depends on surface).
- Very loud, but hey it's a compressor and when its full it shuts off.
- You have to bleed the moisture out of it after every use, not a big deal.
