Our 9 yr. old Tarket longstrip flooring (American Classic Ash wheat- 9/16 x 7 1/2 x 8) was irreparably damaged recently due to hot water heater (these were floated on concrete slab w/ foam pad & moisture barrier). This product has not been made for some time by Tarkett and we have been looking for a comparable value product (i.e. top layer hardwood of 3/16)- we prefer the 5" wide planks instead of the 7 1/2. We have been told that Kahrs, Mirage and Anderson made comparable value products. Is this correct? Are there any other brands of comparable value (i.e. Mullican, Summitt-Private Reserve)? Thank you very much.

Karhs is your best bet. Although they may not have an exact copy they do make very good floating panel floors. Award may still have some; not sure. The floating 8" panel floor is going the way of the dodo, with folks preferring the single board look, as you are requesting. There are now many manufacturers of floors that a 5" wide board can be floated. Most are beveled slightly.

The Kahr,s product is in general more expensive than the others, the Mirage has a decent price point. If the ins. company is at the table for the bill, use the Kahr's.
