Hello.

We moved into a new house this week that was built 2.5 years ago. The dining room has 3/4" oak floors with gloss oil poly on them, really nice.

The previous owner had an area rug under their dining room table, and the square where the rug was has a very noticable yellow cast to it. I assume that the non-yellow (outside) areas are due to the floors exposure to natural sunlight, as the room faces south.

Anything I need to do to even this color out, or will it happen naturally with sunlight and time?

thx

It will blend in some, but you will always see an outline. I removed a long runner in my foyer about 4 or 5 years ago and that area is still a different shade. What I don't understand is the floor that was under the runner is darker, I thought it would have been lighter.

My foyer is prefinished red oak, not a sand on site finish.
