Can polyurethane be applied over original Waterlox tung oil sealer/finish? Was coated 6-12 months ago. Will there be a problem with peeling or lifting? Thanks

I'm not a S&F guy, but I don't believe you can urethane over oil or wax without sanding down to bare wood, without having adhesion problems. Just had to test my limited S&F knowledge, we'll see when the sand guys chime in

Oil based polyurethane can be applied over waterlox. For a waterbased poly I would suggest a sanding sealer first to make sure the finish sticks.

needs to be abraded first but oil or water will work over waterlox.
