Trillium is a "Uniclic" locking system. You shouldnt have to glue or nail. Some manuf. require gluing the end seams, to avoid end gapping, but thats it.
You need to figure out why the floor is "crackling".
I have seen this happen when the planks are creaking at the seams. Usually as a result of the floor being "locked in", not having required expansion around the perimeter. The planks tighten at the seams, and being a floating system there is a certain amount of give. There is pressure at the seams and the give & pressure creates creaking. If this is the problem, it is fixable. It's a matter of giving the floor more room to expand. The floor will then relax, and solve the creaking.
Without seeing the floor ... This is a possibility. You may consider hiring a certified hardwood flooring inspector in your area to look at the floor.
In my opinion you should be looking more into why is this happening?
Was the wood acclimated properly? Is your relative humidity at manuf. recomend.?
