I have always heard that staples are the better choice for a 3/4 hardwood install
BUT an installer told me that specifically on Brazilian Teak (which is harder and more brittle), cleats are better because staples would have more of a tendancy to split the tongue??
Any truth to this?

Thanks,
Frank

Frank,

I just finished 540 ft of Brazillian Teak using 2 inch staples. There was an an occasional split but no broken tounges. The slight split did not prevent the next row from fitting over the tounge. Floor is very tight with no squeks.
