Installing walnut tonue and groove (3/4") random width (3-8") on top of 3/4" plywood subfloor. Should I be using 1 1/2", 1 3/4", or 2" cleats.

This is my first attempt at installing hardwood flooring and I want to do it right the first time!

Thank you

I like 1 3/4" but usually use 2" because of availability.

Let me throw a curve here. One of the most extreme situations you might encounter is 3/4" flooring over radiant heat. If the sub-floor is only 3/4" thick what length fastener are You going to use ?
With less invasive circumstances, why would it require a longer fastener ?
