Does anyone know the difference (if any) between the clarke super 7 edgers with the blue label vs the red label vs the black label? I have been using a fellow contractors edger and need to get my own but am unsure of the meaning of the label colors.

The labels mostly changed because the company has changed hands a few times. From American to Clarke to Alto. Red label is oldest, blue is next and then black label is newest. They should all be nearly identical with the exception that newer edgers come with a round dust chute and push on dust bag.

If you want to modify an older rectangular dust chute, most flooring supply companies have the new dust chute which is a direct , bolt on replacement. The idea is that that the new round chute allows you to put the 2 inch vacuum hose right into the edger and control dust. The standard dust bag does very little to control dust
