I just had unfinished select and better red oak floors installed in my house. They were also stained and sealed. I have noticed that some of the pieces have chips in the wood and what seems like wholes in knots. I mentioned this to the installer when we did our walk through and he said that is the nature of oak. I would think that they should have been patched or not have been there at all. Is this common or should I contact the installer and question him again? Thanks you.

You shouldn't have the flaws you speak of in a select and better grade.

Holes in knots?
