I would like to replace all the carpet (1375 square feet) in my home with hardwood floors. I have three large dogs each weighing 80+ pounds and need advice regarding what would be the best floor to put down and what type of poly finish.

After looking around your website I noticed that the concrete slab looks like it will add more difficulty to the project. Any suggestions?

There seems to be a lot of disagreement among the men in my family...so I decided to come to experts.

What do ya think?

i think you need ceramic tile or one hellof a hardwood like cumaru or ipe. solid not engineered, which can be glued down with bostiks best. but i could be wrong.

A type of floor that has held up well in commercial applications is the acrylic impregnated floors; specifically Hartco Pattern Plus. This floor has a matte acrylic finish and is 70% harder than regular red oak. While no floor is impervious to scratches, dents and the like, Pattern Plus has been specified in numerous commercial applications due to it's durability. It does have a different look that does not appeal to everyone and one does need to follow Hartco's maintenance procedures. It is just a suggestion of a wood floor product to consider. Good luck! :)

not to rain on your parade, but 3 large dogs will most likely ruin any type of hardwood that you have installed. within a year or 2. those dogs will put your floor through more punishment than you think. your safest bet would be tile.
