 Post subject: Chatter marks

Should drum sander weigh about 250 pounds and have have 3 - 7 HP motors in order to avoid leaving chatter marks ?

Chatter is not about the weight or HP, it's whether the sander is operating well and the paper is loaded properly. Chatter can be caused by many things but most often, it is due to using a drum sander (not belt ) and loading the paper too loose OR too tight.
