We are installing Kahrs woodloc 15mm engineered wood flooring. We are trying to do our whole first foor with no transitions, so far so good. We are almost finished and came across a problem. Our stairs run perpendicular to our flooring for the top step (landing). TO clarify, the side boards only 178 mm meet the stair not the length woodloc side. We had preordered flush woodloc stair nosing, this will work for the rest of the stairs (we can run the stairs the correct way). How do we change directions with woodloc so the locking mechanism can lock into the stair nosing?

If you were to lock the plank into the nosing on that top step . ...the floor will be "locked in". Not a good idea for a floater. I realize this isn't going to match the other nosings, but an overlap nosing is the way to go, so you can leave proper expansion.

Thank you. Also, do you know if kitchen cabinets with a Granite counter top can be installed over this floor or should I run them up to it and have plywood under the cabinets? And, with installing the stairs, I know I have to glue them down but, does there also need to be a flex seam on them?
Thank you for your help!

Do not install your cabinets on top of a floating floor. Install the cabinets then your floor with the proper expansion and cover it with the toekicks.

The cabinets can actually be installed on top of the floor, with expansion at the walls. As long as the cabinets are not secured to the floor. Ofcoarse what Jeff says works too, and probably a better idea.... if you ever need to repair or take up flooring....your better off not installing the cabinets over it.

You don't have to worry about leaving expansion on an individual step.
