Can you change directions with a floated floor, like Kahrs woodlock?.By this I mean will the tongues on the ends fit into the grooves on the long edge ( hope that made sense)
Thanx
Phil

It is not necessary. It can be installed backwards just about as easily. 8)

I think you're asking if you can go from laying the planks longways east-west to laying longways north-south, butting up against each-other. I believe you can, as the edges are the same cut. I think I've seen that done in some pictures on-line...

You can back up with Kahrs, no splining or board reversing issues... just start going back wards with it.

Thanx for all replies. Yes Bob, I want to do just what you said. You just explained it better. I thought it would work.
Thanx
Phil

I get it now.

I have thought about that before too. The problem is the fact the board butting into the long side of the opposite lay will all be full boards of the same length w/o cutting and splining. Creating a weak point by not being able to stagger your joints.

You could possibly still achieve the look you want by splining where you make the turn in direction.

I was working with Kährs today. The side join is milled a different size from the end joints. They will not fit together. The only way to change directions is to use a spline.
