I have recently decided to replace my old carpet floor with either a wood floor or a laminate, to my suprise when i took out the carpet i have some cracks and some dime size indententions/chips in my cemet floor, I guess my question to you is would I have to fox these cracks & indentions caused by the nails from the tack strips being removed or can I just leave it as is and put the polythelene film and underlayment down as well as my flooring, will I have to fill this with motar??? help!

You need a long straight edge, or straight pipe, 8 ft, minimum, to lay on the cement floor, to varify it is within flatness tolerances, of 3/16" in 10 foot., 1/8" in 6'
