Greetings, got a kitten for my kids for Christmas. In the last couple months I've noticed white marks all over our darker hardwood floors. The scratches almost seem to be in a coating on the floor rather than the wood itself, at least that's how it appears when you look closely at it. It's almost flakey-looking in some areas, like when the frosting on a glazed donut breaks, if that makes sense. These floors were installed by the previous owners back in 2017. Floor is made by Armstrong, but I don't have much other info on the type/materials.
I'm trying to determine if these are scratches in some protective factory coating or possibly a waxy layer of buildup from floor cleaners over time, and how to get rid of them because our floors look terrible at present. I've tried some of the Weiman's floor restore to try and remove but that did nothing. I've attached some pics for reference.
Thanks in advance
