we are about 1/2 way through putting down laminate and I already foresee a problem. On my 2nd floor there is an overlook with a banister so you can look over the stairs, at the base of the banister is a beveled piece of wood that looks really nice with the carpet but will be a good 1/8"-1/4" taller than my new laminate. I dont want to just make a flat end and push it against the beveled piece because it would leave a gap that you could see the side of the laminate. and I dont want to use a T-Molding because it will sit at a pretty heavy angle and it will not look that great.

I will try to post a picture later... but what are some of my other options other than t-molding.

Depending on the situation....Sometimes I'll rip a t-moulding in half, ( makes it into a sort of mini reducer). You may be able to do that, and butt the cut edge against the plate...

I think Howards might mean ripping one side off a T-molding to make a End-molding or baby threshold.

Actually I find that the profile of ripping a t-moulding makes for a finer, less cumbersum trim, than most endcaps , or baby thresholds, yet suits the same recommended purpose. They also look better to me against sliders, and other scenarios.Ofcoarse there are situations where a ripped t-moulding won't work...

I agree Howard. Less obtrusive and serve the same purpose. Plus usually costs less than half of a T-cap. Especially on exotics. But if your gluing or nailing do you really need one?

I can't imagine ever using one for gluing or nailing, in this situation. But for Laminate/Floating it can come in handy.
