Hi guys.
I have a customer that almost went with lumber liquidators. He agrees that unfinished 2 1/4" oak is better and we'll sand and finish it on site. He was impressed with a sample of L.L's "Quiet Walk" under layment and wants to know if we can staple down the floors over it instead of using rosin or roofing paper. What do you guys think about it ?

P.S. , he plans to install Uponor Joist trak radiant heat this year or next year . These are aluminum panels that go get installed from under the sub floor and have a channel for the tuning to sit into.

I believe Quietwalk says you can fasten down over it if memory serves correct. But why would you want to put in an insulator between the floor heating system and the floor? Makes no sense.

I feel the same way. The homeowner feels that it will make the floor "quieter" but I advised him against it . His sub floors are pretty tight in my opinion but I figured I'd get opinions from other pros first.

You definetely can fasten through Quietwalk, just add 3/16" extra to your fastener length. If you go that route...Tighten up on your fastener spacing , (every 5-6 inches).
Quietwalk IS going to effect the effiency of the under subfloor heating, it's going to insulate the heat from coming up through the floor. I wonder what type of chemicals will be gassing off from that stuff?
I don't know, maybe that's better than heating up saturated felt, for some nice warm excessive petroleum gassing
