Is Bona the best hardwood floor cleaner and polish? Can you recommend the best hardwood floor cleaner and polish if you think other than the Bona product? Thanks.

I do think the Bona hardwood floor cleaner is a great product. We give a bottle to every client. They also make a spray mop similar to the wet swiffer.

In addition to the Bona product, Woodwise (Design Hardwood Products) is an excellent cleaner and we use it almost exclusively.

I agree that Bona makes the best hardwood cleaner. Although I have to admit the hardwood cleaner that Mirage (Boa-Franc) offers is pretty impressive, it cleans great and evaporates very quickly without leaving a film. Although I'm pretty sure Mirage outsources the product and just has their name stuck on the label.

I would stay away from the "polish" that you mentioned. If you have a modern prefinished floor, or a site finished floor with a quality finish, those "polishes", or what Bona calls the hardwood floor "Refresher" tends to leave a film over the surface of the floor. So it actually creates a problem where one didn't exist to begin with.

Also, I'm glad to see nobody recommended it, but just in case someone tries to... PLEASE AVOID ORANGE GLO LIKE THE PLAGUE

So, using the hardwood floor cleaner is enough, right? If so, how often should we usually mop the floor with the cleaner?

A proper cleaning program will be based on individual situations that take into consideration the amount of use the space gets, what sort of activity on the floor, etc. Basically, if it looks like it needs to be cleaned, that's the time to do it. Polish? no way. Orange Glo? Sure, then call me for a re-finish job, lol.
Just be careful what product(s) you use and you will be all right. Take the advice of a local flooring contractor, not the guy at the box store. You are on the right track with the Bona cleaner, but dont use any of those "refresher" type products. The finish on your floor doesn't need it, just needs to be cleaned on an "as needed" basis.

Thanks for the info. You mentioned Orange Glo is ok. How about the Wetjet multi-purpose cleaner? It is cheap and easy to use but I am not sure the effect on the hardwood floor by using it.

Hey compiler, you failed to notice the sarcasm within my comment about Orange Glo. Never use that product on your hardwood. The wetjet thingy may damage your hardwood, not too sue about that, but definitely do not use one of those steam generating cleaning utensils.

Sorry, adding this later, I didnt really mean to be sarcastic to you, was more directed at the marketing world in general, that make rediculous claims for various products, so to recap: NO Orange Glo on your floors please.

Thank you for your clarification. Those Orange Glo, Wetjet ad so much on the TV and are put in the Wal-Mart. People thought they can do the same job as the other professional hardwood floor cleaner. Would you mind listing some good products from Home Deport or Lows for the hardwood floor maintenance so we can benefit from your recommendation to select the product?

Bona has a good cleaner.
I do not recommend using a polish on wood floors. If you would like to get a shine on your floor I would recommend applying a coat of floor finish. Polish will not last and can create an adhesion problem when you do want to apply another coat of finish.
Wood floors are not like vinyl flooring where you polish and strip and polish, again.
Do you have a water-based poly-urethane as a finish?
