I'm sort of giving up on trying to identify every high and low spot on my subfloor. Can I just obviate all this by simply leveling the subfloor entirely?

Now, considering:

1) the slc product has a flow time of about 10 mins;
2) I'm working with about 800 sq ft of surface; and
3) there are only two of us (my wife and I).

Can we apply the slc in stages? If so, what's the routine and what should I be watch out for?

You can definetly do the entire floor in one shot if you know what your doing. I know your an engineer but you might want to hire this part out. Get someone with a pumper.. BTW last time I thought you said the area you had to level out was like a 4x8 foot area. Now it's suddenly 800sf? :roll:

No, I'm not leveling 800 sq ft. anymore (some have recommended that I just level the entire floor, but since I have mapped out the problem areas, I don't think that's necessary). In reality, I have a few small areas that need to be leveled. However, there is one area that I don't know how the slc will flow. This area has been problematic for me because it gives me more/less gaps if I move the level to the left/right (and so I don't know the actual extent of the depression on the floor). Also, I've never used slc, so from what I've read about the product, it has a very short working time and I want to do the best job I can on my rookie run.
I plan on using the Ardex v 1200 with its P-50 primer. Any expert tips in using these products? Is a gauge rake necessary for small areas? I was going to use a 2x4 to screed like I've seen in some of the videos on youtube.
