There is a stained area on a parquet floor. If I replace a few boxes, will resanding without staining (but with water based poly cover) blend the old and new?

Conversely, is it possible to sand and refinish just the portion of the floor that has the new inserts without doing the whole room if the colors are the same to begin with?

Yes resanding without staining blend the old and new but you need to very careful how much you are resanding.. over resanding might actually result in a different shade. becareful!! :)

Thank you! I would like to sand a small area to see whether the stain can be removed without going too deeply into the wood, but since the entire room has just been sanded, sealed, and finished, I am afraid that scraping a sample area would require re-doing the whole room.

Would it?

Thanks again.

If that is the case, try sanding where alterations are least noticable like corners of the room. I don't think you would require to refinish the whole room again. Have a good day!!

Cheers!
