I'm really NOT sure what to do. We had new flooring put in our dining area and other adjoining areas where there used to be carpet, and it looks GREAT. Granted this flooring is new, but it has minimal scratches. The existing wood floor in the living area and foyer tends to scratch SO easy, and I'm wondering if it has been screened and coated so many times that it is creating some sort of build-up that makes it more prone to scratching?? Granted the new wood areas are not as high traffic, but still............daily, I am seeing new scratches on the existing floor. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the fact that it has been screened and recoated maybe four times in the last ten years??? Any thoughts???

In case it matters, it is a satin finish, put on by Mr. Sandless (which I understand after reading posts here, that what they did is the same as a 'screen and re-coat). It looks great after first put on, but then gradually as months go by,scratches show up like crazy!

Help! Any ideas??

Was your new flooring site finished? If so, have the same contractor come back to sand and refinish your old wood flooring. You will be far more satisfied.

yes too many coats can scratch easily...and i have no real idea what is done by Mr sandless..but i know without stripping...their "innovative" secret formula goes against all practical wood floor procedures...

soooooooooo..in short...finished are probably compromised...therefore scratching easy..next step will be peeling..
