I had my home built 4 years ago and have solid handscraped wood floors. Glued down. Okay now, my bad. Instructions said nothing but a damp mop and I put Bona polish on it. After a while, between applications I started noticing the finish was getting dulled and waxey feeling. Then I noticed where I splattered it up on my wood blinds I could scraped it off like candle wax. I tried using a Shark steam cleaner on it. That did nothing, but I found out I ceould get down on my hands and knees and use a 3M microfiber pad, like the green ones with a yellow sponge on the back. Using it like a buffer brings back the shine. My question is can I rent a commercial machine of somekind and get it back?

You may be able to use Bona prep, a maroon pad under a disc buffer and get it off that way.IN other words, you need to buff and re coat the floor. But you have to get all of the wax off the floor.

Using the Bona prep and maroon pad will lift all the contaminates away from the floor and trap them in the maroon pad.But you will go through two or 3 maroon pads in the process.

As far as polishing the old finish, it is not something that is easily accomplished like on a car , which isn't that easy either. But I have seen one or two brave people actually buff out their floors with a car polisher and a lot of time and effort.

Until now, I didn't know Bona had a polish. Why any company would make a polish is beyond me. Refreshers aren't great either.
