 I am going to replace the wood where the fridge set. Someone removed the pan and my GF's son cut out the rot. Existing is 2 1/4" sand and finish. I am not going to attempt to match it. Also there is a 3'x5' area in the living room where the soap stone stove used to sit.

I am going to get some prefinished 3 1/2' stuff that is darker so I can do a bordered inset.

Stephen suggested coming here for answers. He did mention using glue from Lowe's and a biscuit joiner.

I was thinking using a straight edge and a router to get a decent lap joint. I was wanting to turn the wood 90* to the existing.

I have a table saw, chop saw, and router.

What blade do I need to make purty cuts?

What you think about my idea?

Thanks in advance!

Howdy Ken!

Walter

Get a grooving blade for the router, and some spline.Interlock everything with tongue and groove. If you dont want to tongue and groove the end joints, where the boards butt into the border, just glue the ends of those. On table & miter saw,40-60 tooth blades will give you clean enough cuts.I'd recommend stapling every board if possible, finish nail the last board, you may need a little bit of matching putty.Good luck.

Hey Walter, you checked out Ken's other site for plank replacement? There's actually tons of them on the web these days, even youtube. I think you mentioned framing out that area of the fridge? Wish I lived closer we could have some fun. But I hear Ken is closer, much closer, like around the corner from ya. :D

I know basically how to do a plank replacement. Too much work IMO.

Ken lives down in Ellijay GA. I am outside Nashville TN. I've been there once or twice for the apple festival. Lots of cool antique shops there.
