Hey there.

I am installing a BR-111 Triangulo 1/2" x 5" product over concrete above grade (My second story, which is my living room/kitchen.)

My calcium chloride test came back at 4.7lbs/1000ft. I know that BR-111 says anything over 3 lb must have a moisture barrier.

Being that I'm above grade and still reletively low at 4.7, is this ABSOLUTLY required? I really dont mind spending the extra $400 for insurance for my $2000 worth of wood, but I'm just trying to further educate myself with all of this as this is my first install.

Using Bostik Best adhesive and would use the Bostik MVP if nessesary.

Do it....don't mess with moisture and definitely don't do something to void your warranty....all of those stipulations will be used by the manufacturer to get out of a claim if you ever file one.

What did your ph test say and did you do three cacl tests or just one? Did you document? Did you lightly abrade the surface 24hrs prior to placing the test?

Ph test came back low in one spot and high in another. Just one Calcium test conducted closest to the only outside wall, figuring this may be the highest of any spot. Yes, the surface was lightly scuffed beforehand.

That could be true depending on the weather and grading conditions, slabs do dry from the outside first. But if its raining a lot it could also be the highest. However that will not work, you need three for the first 1000sf and document them with pictures and have a qualified person weigh it run the numbers. Was it a Taylor test kit?

Yes, Taylor test kit.

I'm not risking it. I went today and bought 10 gallons of Bostik MVP for my 400 Sq/ft. Better safe than sorry.

I believe last time I looked the MVP said to do prpoer cacl testing according to industry standards or no warranty.

Not to worry though, tons of contractors and stores out here do not test. Only problem is that if the slab is too wet it will still fail.
