The owner absolutely wants to go under cabinets. Ceramic tile to be pulled also. I'm thinking of very carefully removing the toe kicks, and using a grout removal tool with the fein to cut out one tile past the toe kicks. As for the sidewalls of the cabinets, they cannot be removed, and I must use my fein to undercut.

How do you install under cabinets? Glue? how bout closing gaps?

so the customer does not want any shoe moulding huh? well the toe kick is no problem to remove. but that doesnt always mean you can get under the cabinets. i have seen some cabinets that you cant, but you will be able to give the apperance that they are under the cabinst by replacing the toe kick, regarding cutting the side panels, personaly i dont like it, i would rather cut the wood tight. kinda a risk over reward. regarding installing wood floor were i cant nail and and have to rely on adheasive. make sure you adheasive does not get inbetween the t&g you will never be able to draw them tight.

Yes I'm sure they are installed over tile. Brand new house. No caulking or moulding at the toe kicks and it goes right under. They are very picky. They had site finished flooring at a landing and it is flawless and they find it "a little rough" so they are very particular.

Exactly Al...Times are tough , but I don't know.

The homeowner says it's all the way under? I can't imagine a builder doing this, ( unless these people insisted).
I have seen guys install tile under the front lip of toekicks. Or cabinet guys install toekicks after tile,(over the tile edge). But if they set the cabinets on top of the tile, they couldn't shim um level,(ofcoarse they could have hid gaps with toekick)

Maybe I'll go there again to see if I can remove the toe kick, and make sure it doesn't run right to the walls. Even if they did, I could use my fein and a chisel to remove 1 tile in. Is it that tough?

You know what builders do when the cabinets are late....dumb stuff like run tile just under where the toe kick goes and throw some loose ones in the back side,,,,if your lucky.
