I, like many others, buff with a rotary buffer (16"). Does anyone use one of those big random orbit square buffers?

I read that someone swore by this machine and wouldn't use anything else to buff his floors (supposedly it leaves no flaws). But I don't know ANYONE who uses one. I like my versatile buffer, it can use: screens, hard-disques, sanding tape, it can help stain floors and remove excess stain. I doubt a square buffer can be so versatile

A square buffer can do anything a circular buffer can do, it just does it much more slowly. The ONLY advantage a square buff has is that it does not leave circular scratch marks in the wood or finish. Oh yeah, it's also easier to control. Pros use a circular buffer for the aggressive sanding ability and the speed. DIYers use square buffs typically.
