Trying to add warmth to our newly refinished floors with out having to sand them down again. Floors done with water coat and are rough and way too light. It was suggested that we buff, oil coat to give it the wood some richness, then water coat to seal in fumes from oil. How many days would it take to buff, apply oil based coat, dry, then put water on top to seal in the fumes?

btw you cant seal in the solvents because they will be disapted by the time the oil cures and you cant coat one over the other untill its fully cured.. Actually that is exactly the reason you have to wait 30 days.

Thanks for the reply Kevin. So, if they buff & then apply oil coat, should that warm up the color of the floor? Also, what is a realistic time frame for this to be done? Ideally we would like to leave the house on a Friday and return on Monday.

Switching to oil wont darken the color as much as re sanding and coating with oil from the beginning would. As far as time frame, you would need about a month to pull this off to avoid de lamination of the coats.
