I installed some lock and fold recenty, and noticed these circular changes in the finish. You can only see them in certain lighting.I couldn not see them when installing.Any ideas on what is making these circles and if there is a fix besides board replacement?

I'd like to see a good close-up shot of that.

Tucson is right, more information is required if you want a valid analysis of the problem.

I will get pics . Thanks for the prompt reply.Another installer and I spent half a day grinding crowns and filling low spots and the floor still makes crackling noises and the floor is flat to spec.Maybe "quiet walk" underlayment is to thick.Too much give with that shitty wood.I am not exaggerating when I say that. You have to watch for bows, skews, bad coloring, groom the boards(knock off all the extra wood that shouldn"t be there),and have multiple lighting so you can check the finish.Total garbage!

That is because of the name "Bruce" on the cartons.

Potent, your preaching to the Choir here lol. I did some a few months ago in my neighbors house against my better judgment but thats what they wanted. Sooo, first day it went smooth. Got thru the entry and down a large hall. No sounds at all till the second day I heard crackling. Floor was flat to spec after grinding and patching.

I told them to take it back but he said no thats OK. He is hard of hearing cus he used to be a fighter pilot. lol

Nice to know that Bruce is consistently creating inferior product. I will not be recommending any of that to any of my customers. It would be nice if hardwoodinstaller.com felt the same way. They do say they aren't what they used to be,but it would be nice to show my customers in detail on paper what they are getting in to.

I did some researching of the produict on the web (mainly DIY forums) after the install and found many other people are experiencing the same thing with squeaks.

Yeah i jsut don't see making a locking product if the product isn't going to be at least 1/2" in thickness....3/8" locking just doesn't seem like enough to keep from popping no matter how good you level the subfloor first or what underlayment you put down.

Justin, I think the squeaks have alot to do with the design. Seeing that the ends are not your usual T&G type locking mechanism like most floaters. This invites squeaks if there is any movement. And even your 3/16 or 1/8 inch will allow a little movement, therefore a squeaky floor.
