Any thoughts on this product? About to take on my first floor. Under the watchful eye of the wife. I better nail this the first time, no pun intended. I know Bruce has some devout critics here, but I need a reasonably priced floor and I really liked what I saw in the samples. Not looking build the Taj. About 700 s.f. of new floor and some steps on the upper level of a split level home. House is 10 yrs old, solid construction. I'm assuming I need to nail it. Staples better? I live in Chicago, with A/C and a humidifier so, based on what I've read here, I'm not too concered about temperature or humidity swings.

Is there a reasonably priced alternative? I've read on this forum that the Bruce Liberty Plains is now made in China and I'm seeing mixed reaction to this. Most importantly, the real species of the wood seems to be suspect. Is the Kennendale still a North American hardwood and still made here?

Thanks.

Have you considered Sheoga? Smaller sized mill located in Ohio that puts out quality over quantity. Longer lengths too.

I would go with Sheoga as well. Nice company to do business with. As Ken said, you'll get some longer lengths to boot. Prices are comparable to Bruce's and the flooring is all American and American made.

Thanks guys.

The Sheoga looks great. Not too much color choice, but if the samples I ordered look as good as the pics, we may decide to go that way.

Getting back to the Kennendale, I assume that no news is bad news? Just would like a final opinions before I scratch it off the list.
