Hello all-
I plan on installing engineered brazillian cherry floor over concrete slab (w/ cork underlayment). And I know for a fact that I am going to need to do a lot of floor preparation (we have laminate in the kitchen- and it squeaks like crazy). So since I am doing DIY, and will only have a couple of hours a day to work on it - I know it will take a long time. And I have a fairly big completely open floor plan.
So my main question is since I don't want to live with a very hard concrete floor for a couple weeks/months - could I break it up? Meaning cut some of the carpet in one room, clean it up, level it, etc. install floor, then begin in the next section? Any problems you see with this?
Thanks in advance!
If you are leveling the floor you should at least do 1 whole room at a time so you can see what has to be done. If there are minor ups and downs the cork would get rid of some of it while the wood floor might take care of the rest. But only if its minor ups and downs,1/8" at 8' is acceptable.
