I have Brazilian teak prefinished flooring installed in my kitchen (4 years old) , a 4x4 section is cupping. It isn’t around any water and I have torn out some of the ceiling in the basement to look at the subfloor and don’t see any moisture at all underneath where the floor is cupping. I can hear the floor moving in the morning when they heat kicks on in the house. Any suggestions as to why this might be happening?

Thanks,
Tom

You may be able to find a source of moisture by using a noninvasive moisture meter. You could check moisture content and compare to other non-cupped areas. A Lignomat mini-ScannerL measures moisture content by an electrical field. Sold in Portland OR.
