Hello,

I thought I found a good deal on #1 common 5" Brazilian Teak. My wife and I like the grain, brown wood tones & the variety of light & dark of the wood.

I purchased a 1 box sample just to be sure. It arrived in less then stellar condition with much splintering and scratches but I cannot blame the vendor. I still have to talk to him about this.

Anyway, my real question is that I was expecting longer strips so I finally got out and measured. The longest strip is 60" but there was only 1. On average the pieces were about 21" in length. Am I being over critical with only looking at 1 box? I guess I would be more accepting if the company set my expectations up front. They were talking up their Brazilian Cherry as having at least 3 boards of their 23 sq ft as being 60" or longer.

Should I accept the fact this flooring might be closer to 'shorts' then another's company's flooring? What is considered 'shorts' anyway?

any insight would be appreciated.

I'm not sure it is a brand, more of a house brand: http://www.prefinishfloors.com/

Not familiar with that manuf.

I missed that we were talking #1 common. The company may have assumed that you were aware that #1 is alot of shorts. You should figure on a large amount of shorts with #1. I would say that carton is typical, maybe even shorter lengths.

I went and found that definition for #1 common and now see they told me that up front. Just confused their 2 products. Thanks.
