Will be installing 5/8ths Brazilian Cherry ending next to ceramic tile at same level. Do I just make the butt ends tight up next to the tile, do a slight undercut to the planks and place tight to tile, or use a transistion t connector (prefer not too).
If I have read the forums correctly I should not worry about expansion along length of plank due to moisture or heat, only expands in width, correct? So butting up next to tile is fine?

Thanks, this is a DIY project.
:)

T connectors are lame....

i plan on butting braz cherry up against tile as well. I've looked in a few higher end homes in mn to see how they do it and they just butted the tile up against the wood and filled the gap with grout, same gap spacing as the rest of the tile.

Go check out some model homes in your area, it really helped me a lot for the ascetic questions then you can make the decision if it's they way you want to go.

I feel leaving a gap imitating the grout lines then using the color matched caulk leaves the best finished look. When placed against a turned header board. Or when the boards are parallel to the lay of the floor rip the 2nd piece out so that the final piece to the transition will be a full board.

I'm in agreement with Barquios. No matter whether its a solid or engineered I leave a gap and fill it with color matched grout caulk.

That is assuming you have clean, straight cuts on the tile that you want left exposed. If the tile edges are raggedy it's a moot point and the edges should be covered.
