Hello folks, nice forum here with lots of good information.
I am new here, so please excuse me if I have posted in wrong location.
I need some advice.I have layed down 2 or 3 floors (red oak), with no issues, and actually bought a Bostitch M111FS to do it, figuring 4-8 floors in a lifetime, it would pay for itself, not having a deadline to return rentals etc.
The problem is I just bought 3/4 inch solid Jatoba, and was told by the vendor that that stapler wont cut it on Brazilian cherry or any of the hard exotics.
I realize I can buy a conversion kit for cleats but at $200 Canadian dollars, that would be a hard sell to the better half.
My question is. Does anyone here have any experiences using staples with this brutally hard and heavy wood, that they can share?

Don’t believe him. You can us staples in any flooring soft or hard woods. In my 18years NEAVER ran into that one. But in b-cherry you will have to turn down the air to about 95-100 psi's for you don’t split the tongs. Turn it back up when using a finish nail gun. Don’t buy the conversion kit. Staples are go for anything you nail. We have about 9 staple guns. And all work great on anything.

Turn it down to??? I run my pressure about 75-80, and only once doing Mesquite, did I have to push 85-psi.

When stapling down very hard wood floors with the M111 FS, occasionally, a tongue will crack or break. And occasionally, a staple will break, not go all the way in or bend. But overall, it will work. Some say cleats work better, but I have no experience with those in B. Cherry. Some soak the staples in oil prior to putting them in the gun with the idea that will help. I cannot say from personal experience. I've installed many B. Cherry floors with my M111 FS and overall, it performed fine. I too, ran the pressure a little more than the recommended 80 psi. Maybe as much as 90 psi.
