Hi Guys,

We just ordered Mirage engineered hardwood in Hickory 5" to be installed in our kitchen/family room area of about 350sq ft. The area is concrete slab on grade (in SoCal). We are leaning toward floating installation, wanted to get all of your professional opinion on if it's ok to use Bostik MVP4 under the 6mil poly and Quiet Walk for the floating installation method? We are thinking to do this for added extra moisture protection? Thanks in advance for any and all advise!

It is absolutely ok to do. I do that when I am below grade with a solid/floating ply floor.
Make certain you follow the directions and check for bond breakers. You may need scarification to bond it properly depending on the surface structure eg; if it is reflective or to smooth. Lots of installers are not aware of that, they just spread and go.

Thank you Stephen. Not sure about bond breakers, the house is built in the 1970's and we are not the original owner. My husband removed the old bumpy Mexican pavers, the concrete is fairy clean, doesn't look smooth or reflective, mildly rough (not sure if I would say broom rough). Plan on using leveling compound next weekend to make sure it's as flat as can be, and then do the MVP4. May I ask what are your opinion/experience with Elastilon Strong, as compared to Quiet Walk? Thanks again for your expertise.
