Hi my name is Dave and I work for Robbins Inc some of you may be familiar with our flooring. I am the quality control supervisor for the Portables Division...manufacturing portable basketball courts for the NBA ,colleges etc.

The problem we are having is with the staples we use. Since 2000 we have used Bostich BCS1516 2" 15 1/2 gauge staples in Bostich MIIIFS nailguns. In 2014 we began having problems with the staples not penetrating fully. After comparing staples made prior to 2014 with those after I noticed one leg of the old "good" staples was slightly shorter than the other. With new new staples both legs are the same length. Now one leg penetrates & one doesn't. It is time consuming to remove the bad staples requiring a nailset & vicegrips.

Has anyone else experienced a problem with Bostich staples recently?
I did contact Bostich & they sent us 20 boxes of staple for free but the leg length is the same on those as well.

Any feedback would be appreciated thank you in advance.

Never noticed that longer leg before. I've heard some guys who do court floors won't use staples.

I can not believe the Length of the staple is the problem . . .
The shoe on the bottom of the nailer might have a slight twist; not allowing the staple slot to be position properly on the flooring.
I change to 1-1/2" staples . . .more consistent setting of the staple crown. . . . .Yes and there is sufficient gripping too.
For those unset staple crowns look to the SET tool from Pro Comfort
