We are trying to decide on Bona Traffic vs. oil-based polyurethene for the finish on our new white oak floors. We are in a townhouse and have two children and a dog, so we are trying to evaluate these two options based on durability, offgassing/air quality, and appearance. There is an upcharge to using the Bona Traffic. Would appreciate any opinions and insights!

Depends on what you like in a floor.

Traffic will have a very low silky sheen in satin, will not be a true "high gloss" .

it dries quick and will be more green if you like that...

Oil will have a higher build, if you like a gloss, it will be a true gloss..

Which is better can be an argument as long as the chicken and the egg..I personally will give the edge to a solvent finish..
