We are having 4 inch red oak floors installed. The installer was going to use Bona Mega 2 coats and 1 coat of traffic. To go to 2 coats traffic and 1 coat Mega was going to add about $1600 dollars. That seems very expensive to swap a coat of Mega for Traffic. Can someone educate me on these coats and provide some advice? How about Traffic HD? Thanks.

Bona Traffic is better than Bona Mega (and yes it costs more...you get what you pay for). You can read more about the difference between the 2 here:

Of course you can do either way, but this is what a lot of contractors do...they say they are using Bona Traffic and only use it for the top coat. Doing for all 3 coats is clearly much better. (and, yes, I'd do 3 coats over 2 if you can).
