ok so here is the skinny since i've been monitoring my RH these are my results... average around 58, highest at 70!!!! and lowest round 46. the house was maintained at this for 3 days prior to installation and here i am 1 week after and i still maintain this. 70 was rare but it happened. i don't want my floors to buckle. nailed down 3/4 oak, crawlspace at least 3 feet off uncovered ground, 1/2"-1" expansion gap. am i gonna have probs? i keep reading all these stories of just 1 month in and the floor is poppin up everywhere.

sorry floorologist... im a loony

Na, You sound like me..anal,type A personality

You should be ok. Your definetely at the high end . Check to make sure you have good cross ventilation in the crawl space. When seasons change it's that much more imperative to moniter RH,( avoid quick heavy swings).

i just don't understand why its so humid here... i live in va! anyways all the vents are open in the crawl space and there are way more than code. i think that since i laid it during the height of our humid summer that come winter when we have the heat up that i will be seeing big cracks... but yeah i am trying to maintain this humidity level now that its set so we will see!

But your crawl space dirt should be covered with plastic to be in spec. Better get down and dirty fast.

so in the last few weeks of me monitoring the RH throughout the house i've noticed that when the RH gets
to be between 63%-72% (i know its high) then the creaking in the floor ceases ... seems good either way just my observations!

I don't want to go way back to the original post, and even then not sure you informed us that you tightened down the underlayment/subfloor before installing. So...did you or not?
