I know the blue tape is not supposed to pull up paint or finish but it does, as I'm sure you all know. Now I know. The floor is fairly newly finished, (about 4 months or so). Is there a trick to fixing only this one spot? I am aware that nothing will make it look perfect other than re-screening the whole floor, which I may do. And if I do that, could you tell me what grit I should use? Thanks.

You can try to mask off the offending boards at the seems and try to make a spot repair. To screen and recoat I would use a 150 on oil and a maroon pad with 180 strips for water. Be sure to start in the least obvious place with the new abrasives.

BTW, not blue tape is the same. 3M-Scotch makes two kinds. When taping floors, use the one that has the orange interior cardboard roll ( 2080 ) and says it's safe for 60 days.
