Using pre-drilled pilot holes through the tongue-side of 3/4" solid hardwood flooring, I find myself having to nail in fairly tight places (manual nailing here).

I could face nail in this situation, but would prefer blind nailing in this staircase application, since the face holes will be unsightly regardless of how I proceed.

I am using finish nails that you already know bend easily.

I may be out of options, but do you have any suggestions? I know that I can raise the angle, but even 30 degrees-off-vertical is still tight and will most likely do more damage than good.
