Oh this sounds like a mess. First of all with such a thin floor, you probably should not have went over the floor so many times. Second, you are supposed to drum sand with say a 36 grit, then edge with 36, then drum w/ 60 and edge with 60 and so on. Next, you should not get the floor so smooth if you are planning to stain. The sanding progression I use for staining is drum w/ 36, edge w/36, drum w/50, edge w/50, edge w/80, drum w/ 80. Then go around all of the edges with a palm sander with a 60 grit paper on it. The last thing is to buff with an 80 grit sanding screen. Your only hope of fixing this is to first edge with 80, drum / 80, palm w/ 60, and buff. Then wipe floor down w/ water, it helps the wood accept stain better.
