Evening All...

First time post....

I want to install hardwood in my foyer and accompanying hallway.

The area is currently covered by ceramic 12X12 tile. Due to clearance issues and my not being sure how well it was laid, I want to remove it and expose the cement slab underneath. BTW, I plan on using an engineered flooring system and mastic/adhesive/glue it to the slab.

Any suggestions on the best way to remove the tile without damaging the slab?

Thanks All,

Bill Dunsmore

Beat the hell out of the tile and let the concrete surface get chipped and beat up.
It is easy to repair the concrete surface of a few dings/dents/gouges and chips.
You are worried about the wrong thing.
Worry about the blisters you'll develope. :)

Safety goggles gloves hammer and chisel. Then you may have to grind off the thinset mortar.

If it is a mud bed, it gets much more complicated.

FloorGuy,

I'm pretty well set up with tools and am confident about removing the tile and grinding any mastic/thinset..

To what extent do complications arise with mud??

Thanks..

Bill
